Chiropractic techniques
Manual & Manipulative Therapy
The word chiropractic comes from the Greek words cheir (hands) and praxis (practice). As the name suggests, it is a hands-on therapy. Chiropractic manipulation is the application of pressure to a person's spine or other parts of their body by a qualified chiropractic doctor. This pressure allows a chiropractor to adjust and correct alignment. Chiropractic manipulation aims to reduce pain and improve mechanical function, or the way a person moves
Diversified Technique
The diversified technique, also commonly referred to as Diversified Chiropractic Technique, or DCT involves the application of a short (low-amplitude), quick (high-velocity) thrust over restricted joints with the goal of restoring normal range of motion in the joint, The diversified technique has three main objectives. They are to restore spinal alignment, repair joint dysfunction, and enhance proper movement
Activator Methods
The Activator Method uses a small, hand-held instrument called the Activator Adjusting Instrument to deliver a gentle impulse force to the spine with the goal of restoring motion to the targeted spinal vertebrae or joint. It is an alternative to the traditional manual form of spinal manipulation, known as the high-velocity low amplitude (HVLA) thrust. Next to the Diversified technique, the Activator Adjusting Instrument is reported to be the most common therapeutic intervention used by chiropractors
Extremity Manipulating and Adjusting
An extremity is the uttermost part of the body, such as a hand or a foot. Since most people believe that chiropractic is limited to the neck and spine, it is believed that extremity chiropractic adjustments are adjustments that are not part of the spinal column. This includes the ribs, shoulder, and elbow, wrist and hand, hip, knee, ankle, foot, hands and toes
